Close
up the pushrod cover, and install the rocker box cover. Torque to
120-inch/pounds, and install the exhaust. Safety wire the plenum snap
rings, install the carb, ignition, spark plugs, etc.
Once all the parts are back on the motorcycle, start it. Set the timing
with a light and make basic carb adjustments. In some cases you may have
to go one size leaner because of how efficiently 4-valve heads flow.
Our test bike fired right up and the timing was on the money. The jets
had been previously lowered.
The bike was sent out for a ride and 25 miles later it was checked for
plug color, which was perfect. It was then sent back to the dyno. The
new tests showed an increase of 10 horsepower and 15 foot/pounds of
torque-the owner was very happy with the results. The heads and

The company believes that with the data shown a good case can be made
for an increase of at least 10 foot pounds of torque and 15 horsepower
by just installing the 4-valve heads and their recommended ignition
system, using 25 degrees of advance. They do qualify that by noticing
that the aforementioned increase was obtained in the ideal operating
range, with optimum conditions. This is a feat that the entire
high-performance marketplace attempts to duplicate with all new
performance products.
They now feel that they have substantial evidence to show that
by bolting on their heads your bike will see horsepower gains and
sustain flat line performance to 8,000 rpm.
After testing, Jim Cheal's Fat Boy spark plugs were inspected and showed
excellent burning characteristics. In addition, after the heavy dyno
runs, the valve train was still quiet at operating temperatures.
Bolt 'em on, fire her up, and hold on!
