BIGGEN BENEFIT

BROTHERS COME TO THE AID OF BRO IN NEED

No one likes to hear about a fellow biker going down, but it happens more than we like to admit. Biggen (A.K.A. Russell Young) and his wife Carol were heading northbound on I-95 in Melbourne, Florida, when for some reason his rear wheel locked up, forcing him to lose control and end up in the median.

He was taken to the local hospital in critical condition and placed in intensive care. He spent a month and a half in the hospital. Luckily, Carol only received minor injuries.

While in the hospital he lost 100 pounds and acquired massive bills, not counting what it was going to cost to rebuild his bike.

Brevard County has a very close biker community, and that community came together for a fund raiser.

As things worked out it was going to go down on Halloween, so a costume contest was added to the activities. There was music thru out the day and evening, biker games, a greased pig chase, games for the kids, and on and on.

Pork Boys B.B.Q. (well-known local bikers Marty, Nick, and Dave) nationally known for the now-famous drunkin’ chicken, took on the cooking chores. Numerous businesses donated everything you could think of and free drawings were held throughout the day.

The crowd was huge with kids and families enjoyin’ the daylight hours. That’s when the greased pig contest was held, and it was hilarious. It started with the guys trying to catch one of the smaller pigs and then get it greased. When it was released into a pen full of kids it, and the kids, knocked the fence down, the pig took off with a crowd in pursuit. The pig ran across a couple of large fields. The pig won! No one ever caught it.

As the sun went down more of the big kids came out to play. There were the normal games, a tattoo contest, wet T-shirt contest, and seeing who could drink the most. The party went on Into the next day before it came to an end.

A sizable amount of money was raised, a fun time was had by all, and the pig came home the next morning looking for something to eat.

It’s just bikers being bikers.
