SOUTH MISSISSIPPI BIKER RALLY

I was impressed. I get to go to a lot of really fine events around the country and I usually have a good time at them and this one was not an exception. It may not have been the largest or rowdiest I have been to and sometimes that’s a good thing. I for one had a great time. Watch for this event to grow as more people find out about it.

The event is held at the Forrest County Multipurpose Center on Highway 49, just off Highway 98 in Mississippi, and it is real easy to get to. There are five large buildings, plenty of paved parking, a lake, full-service campgrounds and also a separate tent camping area.

The event is put on by the Misfits MC of  Hattiesburg. It was well organized and staffed. There was plenty to see and do and the profits from it go to benefit Children’s Hospitals, Injured Motorcyclists, Terminally Ill People and Local Law Enforcement.

There were bike games, bike show, Miss Mississippi Biker Queen Contest, poker run, swap meet, vendors and plenty of bands.

The vendors were what you would expect with a nice variety and not to many with the same things, which was good, there was also one named Playful Pleasures that had adult novelties for those who wanted to have that kind of fun. Food vendors were varied and fair priced. My friend Danny and his wife Kelli with Big Springs Concessions were there and kept me well fed.

There were a lot of bands playing different kinds of music throughout the day and evening, so there was something for everyone. I personally liked Mean Gene Kelton out of Houston, as I think most people did.

I ran into an old friend, Hobo, of the Bandidos, and he took me and introduced me to some of his brothers, which I really enjoyed. I also got to meet a lot of other people while there and some of them are on the way to being new friends. That is always one big thing I like about attending events.

The ride out of Florida was great but on the way home, coming out of Mobile, Alabama, on I-10, I had some engine problems and while I was trying to figure out what to do Roadside Marty and Rob of the Pistoleros MC stopped and offered their help. They ended up getting a trailer and hauling me to meet another member, Sundance, who got me into Dothan, Alabama, so that I could have Berry Wardlaw, of Accurate Engineering, fix things for me.

I want to thank all those who made this trip something memorable for me. I hope to be able to make this event again. For more information about it you can find it on the Internet at http://www.southmississippibikerally.com or call 1-800-852-4866 or contact me at rogue@bikerrogue.com.
