14th ANNUAL SPIRAT SHOP PARTY AND BENEFIT

Every year, for the past 14 years, Smitty of Spirat Enterprises held his annual shop party on Father's Day in June. This year was no exception, but a benefit was added for two local riders injured when a drunk driver pulled out in front of them and sent them both to the hospital with serious injuries.

Shovelhead Billy got hurt pretty bad, but was the first one to be released from the hospital.  His lady, Pamela, suffered a severed spinal cord and was paralyzed from the waist down. She was at the party in her wheelchair and vowed that she would be up and around again, and riding as soon as she was able. I believe she will, too!

There were a lot of people that helped make this event a success, from the people who made up the fliers to those who put up the tents and worked the gate. Tattoo Marty and the Pork Boys barbecue team was on hand serving up their famous drunken chicken and other fine grub. Of course there was plenty of cold stuff to drink. Pompano Pete was on hand with his blinding shirt and provided the sounds from under the canopies with the vendors, who also gave a percentage of their profits to the couple.

One of the highlights of the day was the dunk tank. You know that deal where you sit over a tank of water and people throw balls at a target and try to dunk you. Smitty got in first and there was a line to dunk him. Hum! He got wet a lot. He was followed by Dennis from Mid Florida Cycle and then I took a turn myself. The kids dunked me a few times but most of the grown ups (???) couldn't hit the side of a barn. But it was fun!!!

It was a good day and also for a good cause. It also shows what can happen when everyone pitches in to help. I would like to personally thank everyone who participated.

For those of you who haven't been paying attention, you might want to know that Smitty and Spirat Enterprises Motorcycle Shop is now located on Honey Lane in Grant, Florida, (407)723-6266.
Ride safe and we'll be looking for you there
next year.
